DIRECTOR OF PEOPLE AND CULTURE (HR) – IW GROUP – LOS ANGELES OR SAN FRANCISCO

Position: Director, Talent & Culture
Reports to: President, CEO
Salary: $150,000 - $170,000 depending upon experience
Location: Los Angeles or San Francisco
Position Overview
As the highest-level HR position in the firm, you will be reporting directly to the President/CEO. In this capacity, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the HR team and serve as the principal lead for all needs pertaining to HRIS, payroll, recruitment, compensation and benefits.
Given our rapid and sustained growth, we seek a strategic partner who will assist in the planning of HR needs to accommodate this growth. As such, you will work regularly with the CEO, Chairman, and CFO to develop HR strategies to accomplish agency goals and objectives. This requires someone who understands today’s domestic challenges, evolving staffing and retention strategies, and personnel learning and development opportunities. The best candidates must possess a positive, solutions-oriented approach to human resource development.

Key Initial HR Objectives
Recruitment: Given our growth, a top priority will be responsibility for identifying, recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent nationwide, while fostering an organizational culture that prioritizes inclusiveness, creative excellence, collaborative leadership, and innovative thinking across all departments.
Build the appropriate HR Department: The department currently consists of an HR Manager and 2 support staff. The Director of People & Culture will be challenged with scaling the HR department’s capacity to improve both efficiency and effectiveness.
Compensation & Benefits: Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to ensure that compensation and benefits programs are industry-competitive, prioritize equity and inclusion, and provide incentives that are consistent with the long-term goals of the organization. Manage benefits plan, ensuring that the agency and its leadership are well-informed on all aspects of the employee benefits offerings.
Talent Development and Management: Establish effective policies and practices designed to evaluate and develop top talent across all departments, including performance evaluations, performance improvement plans, and learning and development programs.
Trusted Advisor: Serve as the trusted advisor on all human capital issues to the CEO, Chairman and all department leaders.
Other Responsibilities: HR has overall responsibility for Employee Relations, onboarding, offboarding, and coordination with and oversight of HR vendors and contractors.
QUALIFICATIONS
o Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree and SPHR or SHRM certification preferred.
o Approximately 10+ years HR experience in a relevant industry with increasing levels of responsibility.
o Previous experience in organizational effectiveness/learning/coaching/counseling.
o Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including EEO/AA laws, polices and regulations.
o Demonstrated ability to assess and problem-solve employment and employee relations issues.
o Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
o Experience with multi-state, multi-site locations.
