Job Announcement – Human Resources Director

Job Summary:

The Human Resources Director works under the general direction of the Vice President of Human Resources and plays a key role in implementing a variety of human resources and organizational development strategies. This position is responsible for managing talent acquisition, implementing key diversity, racial equity and inclusion initiatives, and managing the organizational development and change management initiatives that enable and drive a high-performance culture for United Way of King County. This position will also develop strategies for staff development and engagement, collaborate with leaders of the organization on performance management, conduct organizational surveys and assessments, and provide solutions to organizational challenges.

The annual recruiting salary range is $ 97,500-104,500 DOE. This position is open until filled; first consideration will be given to applications received within two weeks of posting. 

Essential Duties:

  • Develops strategies, design processes and leads talent management and acquisition initiatives that attract and retain the best talent in the market and support the growth of our organization.
  • Supports hiring managers in all stages of the recruitment cycle, including crafting job descriptions, communication with candidates and assessing their backgrounds, and conducting interviews.
  • Provides leadership in the implementation of diversity, racial equity and inclusion in all HR practices and procedures.
  • Assesses organizational needs and drive comprehensive solutions in areas such as performance management, training, and staff development; and ensures the organization is current on cutting edge best practices.
  • Advises on key strategies to achieve employee performance objectives.
  • Coaches and counsels supervisors on organizational matters, performance issues, and equitable practices.
  • Co-develops effective change management strategies and ensures successful implementation.
  • Conducts legal research to ensure that UWKC policies and procedures meet compliance standards and legal requirements.
  • Helps build and maintain a culture that fosters high-performance, growth, innovation, collaboration, and support.
  • Represents HR as a member of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Advisory Committee and ensures that HR is represented in all racial equity and diversity matters organization wide.
  • Develops and implements organizational strategies to achieve employee career paths and succession planning.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Organizational Psychology, or a related field. Seven years’ experience in Human Resource Management preferably in an organization similar in complexity to United Way of King County. Supervisory experience required. Master’s degree and/or SHRM Certified Professional or S/PHR certification desirable and a plus.

  • Demonstrated success building collaboration within and across team; demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with people at all levels to obtain successful organizational outcomes and move projects forward.
  • Demonstrated success applying analytics and solving complex human resource and organizational challenges.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively with diverse populations and in high-pressure situations is essential.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and excels at building relationships.
  • Intermediate to Advance Microsoft Office skills.
